• Skate on Main is an open-air ice skating rink located in the heart of downtown Danville. Join us from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve, as we celebrate the holiday season with one of America's favorite winter traditions - ice skating!

    Check the Skate on Main Facebook page before planning your trip to come skate, as rink status and closings are updated daily.

    Hours for 2017 are:  

    Monday-Thursday 4pm-9pm and Friday 4pm-10pm when schools are in session,

    Monday-Friday 10am-10pm when schools are closed,

    Saturdays 10am-10pm and Sundays 1-8pm.


    Skating sessions will begin every hour on the hour, and will last for 60 minutes. 

    Notes for our Visitors 

    While we love animals, we can’t have them on the rink. Also, we are unable to store your personal belongings. Please leave all valuables at home.

    Skate sizes range from children's 8 to men's 12.

    Group Discounts
    For groups with 15 people or more, Skate on Main offers a discounted ticket price of $8. Discounts will be taken at the register. For groups of 20+ reservations must be made beforehand.

    Are there season passes available?

    Skate on Main does not offer season passes.

    Are there any available restrooms?

    Unfortunately, there are no public restrooms on site. Many of the downtown businesses have public restrooms, but we ask that you make a purchase from the business if you would like to use their restroom.

    Are food and beverages available at the rink?

    We have some great local food options for drinks. Visit here for all of downtown Danville’s dining options.

    Can I leave Skate on Main and come back without having to pay again?

    No. A Skate on Main ticket is only valid for one  60 minute skating session.

    Can I bring my own skates to the rink?

    Yes, you may bring your own skates to Skate on Main. However, the fee will still be $10.

    Do I have to skate?

    If you don’t want to skate, we won’t make you! Skate on Main has plenty of places for you to watch your friends and family skate.

    Do you offer large group discounts?

    For groups of 15 people or more, Skate on Main offers a discount ticket price of $8.

    How much does it cost to skate?

    The ticket price is $10. This includes skate rental.

    How long I can skate?

    Each ticket is good for one 60 minute skating session.

    How many people can skate at one time?

    The ice rink can hold a maximum of 40 skaters. However, there is plenty of room for spectating around the rink.

    Is it safe?

    Skate on Main is safe for everyone, regardless of your skating experience.

    What are the acceptable forms of payment?

    Skate on Main accepts cash and credit cards.

    What are your largest and smallest skate sizes?

    The smallest skate size is children's 9, and the largest adult size is Men's 13.

    What do I do with my personal belongings?

    Skate on Main does not provide storage for personal belongings. Please plan for any needs.

    What if it rains?

    The Skate on Main staff will determine any changes in schedule due to rain. If a skating period is stopped by the staff with over half the scheduled time remaining, rain checks for future use will be available.

    What type of clothing should I wear?

    Ice skating is an outdoor activity. We advise patrons to dress warmly and for the weather. You should also wear socks if you plan to skate.

    Where can I park?

    There are several parking spaces available downtown within walking distance from Skate on Main. The Danville Parking Garage is also available on nights and weekend.

    Where is Skate on Main located?

    Skate on Main is located at Weisiger Plaza in front of the Boyle County Courthouse on West Main Street.


  • Waiver

    Every skate must sign a waiver before picking up their skates and getting on the ice. We will have copies available at Skate on Main, but to speed up the process we are encouraging people to print out the waiver and fill it out prior to their arrival.
