The season begins with the Holiday Open House. This is a great time to kick start your holiday shopping as many of the downtown retailers offer deals and discounts for two days full of shopping, discounts, and holiday cheer.

    Saturday, November 24

Continuing the celebration on November 24 will be the 9th annual Small Business Saturday® - a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for our community, sponsored by American Express.

    Saturday, December 1

Join the Heart of Danville and the Boyle County Public Library for Pictures with Santa on Saturday, December 1 from 2-4 at the Boyle County Public Library. As always this event is free and is a great opportunity to avoid the mall traffic.

In addition, library patrons that check out an item or attend a program the week of November 26 will be given a 10% off coupon good for participating businesses. The Library is an incredible asset to our community, and we are excited to partner with them during the holiday season.

    Saturday, December 8

On the evening of Saturday, December 8 downtown will be filled with joy and laughter during the annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony and the 38th Annual Danville Christmas Parade.

The Danville-Boyle County Christmas Parade is the longest-running public event in downtown Danville, and the Heart of Danville is proud to continue this community tradition.  Now coordinated by the Heart of Danville, the Downtown Danville Merchant Association started the parade in 1978 to make the holiday shopping season more festive and to thank the community for supporting their businesses. This family-friendly occasion showcases holiday-themed floats, Santa Claus and well-known local figures as they make their way down Main Street.

The theme for the 2018 Christmas parade is: “Christmas Movies” and we encourage entries to bring their favorite Christmas movie to life.

The Heart of Danville is still accepting entries for the 2018 parade.  Please consider entering your business, church, or organization in the parade.  Floats, in particular, are encouraged. You can fill out an application here, the entry deadline is Friday, November 30th.

Prior to this year’s parade, The Mayor’s tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6:00 PM in Weisiger Plaza.  A reception following the tree lighting, will take place at the Community Arts Center.  The parade will begin at 7:00 PM.
