Second Saturday Changes
As the Heart continues planning for what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in our 30 year history, it is time to say goodbye to one of our events.
After accessing the results of the downtown events survey, completed at the start of the year, and looking at the feedback and comments from downtown merchants and Danville/Boyle Co. citizens, HOD has had to make some difficult choices. One of those challenging decisions has been parting with our monthly Shop Second Saturday. The event never drew the attention of downtown visitors and shoppers, and never reached the scale of what the Heart had planned.
As the age old adage states, "as one door closes, another door opens," and so is true for the Heart. While we are ending one event we are in the works of creating a new event. Love Local Fridays will occur quarterly with the hope that downtown will come alive on select Friday evenings throughout the year. Inspired by Gallery Hops and the foot traffic they create for our downtown merchants, the Heart plans on coordinating Love Local Fridays with already established events downtown. We anticipate that by focusing on quality over quantity, we will receive a greater turnout of downtown visitors and that merchants will find it worthwhile to open their doors.
More details will be forthcoming as finalize the plans for this new event for 2016.
