  • Lemons & Leftovers 2016

  • August is here and that means back to school, football and the 127 Yard Sale.  With the 400 mile sale running right through the Heart of Danville, the downtown Danville merchants will once again be celebrating the discount shopper’s paradise with their annual Lemons & Leftovers sidewalk sales.

The Heart of Danville Main Street Program in collaboration with the downtown merchants will hold this once-a-year blowout on Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6 in downtown Danville.

Both visitors and Danvillians love Lemons & Leftovers for the great discounts, but business owners also benefit from the event.

“Lemons & Leftovers is a win/win for the owner and the customer,” said Julie Nelson, owner of Maple Tree Gallery. “It is a great time to celebrate our customers with bargains, but it also allows me to move merchandise making room for new items.

Besides the community wide sidewalk sale, Friday, Aug. 5, is the Heart of Danville’s quarterly Love Local Friday. Participating merchants (See below) will have extended shopping hours and shoppers who come out are eligible to win “downtown dollars.”

“If you’re not in the mood to shop, come on out and grab a drink or a bite to eat and join us in Weisiger Plaza for some uplifting bluegrass music,” said Bethany Rogers, Director of the Heart of Danville.

Once the stores close at 7pm, the Restless Leg String Band will take center stage at Weisiger Plaza. With their unique style of Progressive Bluegrass, the foursome out of Lexington, KY, have created quite a following around the state.

“We’re all getting back from our summer vacations, and this is a great chance to re-connect and visit on a long summer Friday before the busy school season starts,” said Rogers.
