First Merchant Breakfast of 2016 a Success
On Tuesday, March 15, the Heart of Danville held their first Merchant Breakfast of 2016 at the recently opened Art of Danville on Main St.
On the agenda for the breakfast was an open conversation about the Heart’s 2016 goals. After Tom Poland, Heart of Danville President, discussed the goals and their development, how the Board of Directors developed them, the guests separated into small groups to further discuss and elaborate on initiatives under the goals. The outcome of the discussions included ideas on new downtown events, thoughts on public safety, and conversations on more effective / inclusive communication.
“Merchant breakfasts have been a vital part of the Heart’s successful relationships with the downtown merchants,” stated Bethany Rogers, Heart of Danville Director.
Born out of a need for more in-depth, candid communication with HOD, downtown merchants, and community leaders, the Merchant Breakfasts have helped facilitate conversations on the merchant’s needs, how the Heart can better support them, and current programs and initiatives of relevance to the downtown community.
“25 attendees, including 17 businesses and both City and County representation, is a good start to the year,” said Heart of Danville Project Manager, Nick Wade. “The goals and initiatives discussed at the breakfast will help us better determine our plan for the year.”
The Heart of Danville will be hosting their next Merchant Breakfast at the Great American Dollhouse Museum on Tuesday, April 19th at 8:00 AM. Please contact Nick Wade if you’re interested in attending – email@example.com. Coffee and small bites provided!
