  • 2016 Goals

  • All four of the Heart's committees - Organization, Preservation, Economic Restructuring and Promotion - have been hard at work determining what we need to do, in 2016, to make our community and our organization the best it can be. As a community organization we are here to support Danville and we encourage feedback on our goals.

In 2016, HOD plans to capitalize on the business and community impacts of our annual downtown events.   We will further educate our community on the importance and history of our downtown and incentivize and advocate for increased investment in our historic resources.  We will continue to improve support programming for existing and potential downtown businesses.  We intend to build better relationships with our stakeholders and increase volunteer and citizen engagement through strategic and innovative communication efforts. In other words, the Heart plans to:

    • Develop and execute a communications plan with a focus on
      • Facilitating information flow between our local governments, HOD, and downtown business and property owner
      • Strategically using social media, website, Enews and other mediums to share the work of HOD and downtown happenings to increase community involvement
    • Assess annual Heart of Danville events and refine them as needed to improve impact on downtown businesses and the quality of life for our community as a whole.
    • Increase viability of our historic resources through investment programs and educate the public about the value of these resources and our local history through creative and engaging programming.
    • Continue to improve support programs for current business owners and those looking to open or expand their business in downtown.
    • Build a community vision for improving the appearance and safety of our downtown streets and streetscapes.
